Stephen Panicara — Art Director
Stephen Panicara is an Art Director based in United States, featured in the Art of Styleframe library of motion design and visual design talent. This profile aggregates selected works documented in the gallery alongside attribution links back to the artist's own portfolio for verified context.
Across 10 catalogued projects, Stephen's range covers TCM - 31 Days of Oscar, Pause Fest - Discovery, NFL Network - Total Acess Refresh, NatGeo Wild - Big Cat Week and more, with every entry pointing to the artist's original source rather than a rehosted copy. The set runs through PAUSEFEST - DISCOVERY, GAME OF ARMS, ESPN 2015 SPECIAL OLYMPICS, HBO TRUE DETECTIVE PROMO, among others, and every thumbnail sends you to the artist's site, not a reposted file.
Full reels, case studies, and contact details live at stevepanicara.com, cargocollective.com; this page works as an editorial index pointing toward those primary sources. Keeping coverage of designers like Stephen tied to United States rather than a generic style taxonomy is a bias toward the particular this publication has tried to hold onto through every redesign.

Who he is and what he does
Panicara is a designer and animator living in North Hollywood, California. He's now Executive Creative Director and founding partner of Ranger & Fox, the Los Angeles studio he started with Brett Morris. Before that he worked at Capacity, and most of the gallery below comes from that period.
What stands out in his own project notes is how much of the thinking he shows. He doesn't just post the finished frame. He explains the idea that got him there, which is rarer than it should be in this field.
Broadcast packages and show branding
Sports and cable television dominate. Game of Arms gave AMC an opening title and show package for an arm-wrestling reality series, a brief he describes as sounding ridiculous but turning out to be a genuinely good show. The ESPN 2015 Special Olympics pitch asked for something fun and colourful yet still cinematic. ESL Call of Duty World League covers esports, and the Esquire Network and NFL Network Total Access refresh entries handle channel branding.
For National Geographic Channel's Big Cat Week in 2014 he went painterly and expressive rather than slick, which is not the default reflex for a wildlife package.
Pitches and personal projects
Two entries are honest about not shipping. The HBO True Detective promo was a Capacity pitch where he pushed the typography off the computer and made it physically. The Confidential Award Show package was shelved indefinitely for reasons outside the team's control, and he says so plainly rather than hiding the frames.
Pausefest Discovery started as early styleframes for the 2016 Pause Fest motion response he built with Brett Morris. Bike For Kam 2014 and the TCM 31 Days of Oscar pitch, inspired by NASA photographs of Earth from space, round out the set. His Chasing The Dream package for the Golf Channel combined the motion of a golf swing with the layered structure of a golf course.
Portfolio highlights
- 31 Days of Oscar For this pitch for TCMs '31 Days of Oscar,' I was inspired by NASA photos of the earth from space.
- Discovery Early styleframes I created for the 2016 Pausefest motion response that Brett Morris and I worked on together.
- Total Acess Refresh NFL Network approached Capacity to make a few new elements to supplement the Total Access package.
- NatGeo Wild Big Cat Week - For NGC's 'Big Cat Week,' I thought it would be cool to go with a painterly, more expressive approach.
- Chasing The Dream The Golf Channel asked us to create a graphics package for their new show 'Chasing The Dream.' I wanted to combine the idea of the smooth and elegant motion of the golf swing with the layers of a gol
- True Detective Pitch Capacity was asked by HBO to present a few concepts for the promo package of their new show a the time, 'True Detective.' I wanted to experiment with doing most of my type off of the computer, so I ha
- ESPN Special Olympics We were pretty excited when ESPN asked us to get in on the pitch for the 2015 Special Olympics in Los Angeles. They were asking for something fun and colorful, yet cinematic and powerful.
- Confidential Award Show Styleframes for a confidential project that was unfortunately, due to politics out of our control, put on hold indefinitely.
- Game of Arms AMC needed opening titles and a show package for their new arm wrestling reality show 'Game of Arms.' It sounds like a ridiculous concept, but it was actually a pretty great show.
