Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

Last updated: July 10, 2026

Art of Styleframe is reader-supported. To keep the articles free we use two revenue sources: display advertising and affiliate links. Here is exactly how that works, in plain language.

Affiliate links

Some articles contain affiliate links to tools, software, and products we write about. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up, we may earn a commission. There is no extra cost to you, and the price you pay is exactly the same as it would be without our link.

We use affiliate programs and networks such as Amazon Associates, Impact, PartnerStack, Awin, and Sovrn/Skimlinks. When a network automatically converts an outbound link into an affiliate link, the same rule applies: it never costs you more and it never changes what we recommend.

How we choose what to recommend

Recommendations are never paid placements. No company can pay us to feature, rank, or praise a product. We pick tools on merit, based on hands-on use and research, and we say plainly when something is not worth it or when a free option is the better call. A commission never buys a better review.

How a tool gets tested before we recommend it

Most of what we write about is software a designer runs every day, so the testing is not a lab exercise. We use the tool on real work first: an actual styleframe, an actual component library, an actual export that has to survive a client review. A tool that only looks good in a feature comparison table and falls apart on a real file does not make it into a recommendation, however good the marketing page is.

Where a paid tier is involved, we pay for it ourselves at the normal public price unless we say otherwise on the page. If a vendor gives us a free licence, extended trial, or review seat, that is stated in the article. Receiving a free licence does not obligate us to publish anything, and several tools we were given access to have never appeared here because they were not worth the reader's time.

We also try to say what a tool is bad at. A recommendation with no stated weaknesses is usually a sign the writer did not use the thing for long enough to find them. If a cheaper option or a free open-source alternative does the same job, we name it, even when the cheaper option pays us nothing.

Rankings and ordering are not for sale

No company can buy a position in a list, a higher score, a mention in a roundup, or removal of a competitor. There is no rate card for editorial placement because there is no editorial placement to sell. Ordering in our comparison articles reflects our own judgement about which tool suits which reader, and it changes when the products change, not when a commission rate changes.

Affiliate programs sometimes offer higher payouts for particular products. We do not reorder or reweight anything on that basis. If a tool we rate highly has no affiliate program at all, it still gets recommended, and that happens regularly.

What our ad units can and cannot see

Display ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. The ad code runs in the page and can read standard browser information such as your approximate location derived from IP address, your device and browser type, the page you are on, and advertising cookies or identifiers already stored by your browser. Google and its advertising partners may use that information to select ads and measure performance.

We do not pass any information about you to advertisers ourselves. We do not run an email list that is sold or rented, and we do not attach reader identities to ad requests. We do not see who clicked which ad, only aggregate revenue reporting. Controls for personalised advertising, including how to turn it off, are described on our Privacy Policy page, and browser-level or extension-level ad blocking works fine here.

Sponsored content policy

We do not currently publish sponsored articles, paid reviews, paid guest posts, or link insertions, and we decline those requests as a matter of course. If that ever changes, any sponsored item would carry a clear label at the top of the page, before the content, saying who paid for it. Sponsored items would never be presented as editorial reviews, would not be mixed into ranked lists of tools, and any links inside them would carry the appropriate rel attribute.

Gifts, event invitations, and hardware loans are treated the same way. If we accept something of value connected to a topic we cover, it is disclosed on the article where it is relevant.

How AI is used in our writing

Articles here are researched, structured, and edited by people. AI assistance is used in the same way a spell checker or a search tool is used: drafting alternative phrasings, checking grammar, summarising documentation we then verify ourselves, and generating boilerplate code snippets that are tested before publication. No article is published as raw model output.

Opinions, recommendations, test results, prices, and first-hand experience described on this site come from the editors, not from a model. If a figure appears in an article, a person checked it against the source. Illustrative images generated by AI, where used, are labelled as such in the caption or credit line.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, especially prices and feature lists, which change faster than articles do. When we find or are told about an error, we fix it. Small fixes such as a typo, a dead link, or an updated price are corrected quietly and the page's last-updated date changes. Anything that alters the substance of a recommendation gets a visible note on the page explaining what changed and when.

To report an error, email the address below with the page URL and the specific sentence that is wrong. A link to a source helps, though it is not required. Verified corrections are usually actioned within a few working days, and we would much rather hear from you than leave a wrong figure sitting there.

How affiliate links are labelled

Articles that carry affiliate links show a short disclosure near the top of the page. Affiliate links themselves are marked up with rel="sponsored" so search engines can identify them, per Google's guidelines.

Display advertising

We also show ads served by Google AdSense and its partners. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalised advertising, is covered on our Privacy Policy page.
